Overview

The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is one of the world’s leading humanitarian NGOs, dedicated to supporting displaced populations. Operating in Bangladesh since 2013, DRC provides integrated assistance in site management, shelter, protection, and economic recovery for Rohingya refugees and host communities in Cox’s Bazar. DRC is currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Economic Recovery Team Leader to oversee its economic recovery programs.

The Economic Recovery Team Leader will be responsible for managing and ensuring high-quality implementation of economic recovery activities, including market systems development, financial inclusion, livelihoods, and cash and voucher assistance. This leadership role involves team management, stakeholder coordination, partner oversight, and strategic program development in both camp and host community settings.

Requirements

  • University degree (Master’s preferred) in Economics, Socio-Economics, Agriculture, Rural Development, International Development or related field

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience in economic recovery/livelihoods programming in humanitarian contexts

  • Strong expertise in Market Systems Development (MSD) approach and market-based programming including CVA

  • Experience in financial inclusion, food security, and resilience programming

  • Proven team management and leadership skills

  • Excellent English and Bengali communication skills (written and spoken)

  • Experience working with local partners and in the Rohingya response is a strong advantage

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee high-quality implementation of Economic Recovery projects

  • Manage and mentor project staff, ensuring performance and capacity building

  • Coordinate with stakeholders, partners, and other sectors for integrated programming

  • Ensure adherence to donor requirements, DRC policies, and technical standards

  • Support program development, proposal writing, and strategy formulation

  • Monitor project activities and ensure robust MEAL systems

  • Build capacity of local partners and promote localization

  • Maintain strong accountability and feedback mechanisms
